Isn’t LA Already A Tech Hub?

Is LA The Next Tech Hub? We argue it already is. With Caltech, JPL, Information Sciences Institute, UCLA, USC... to name a few. We air a clip from LA mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti’s keynote speech at Silicon Beach Fest where he discusses his plans to make Los Angeles a technology hub.

... He [Eric Garcetti] mentioned the James Webb Space Telescope, which is going to see back to the big bang, is being built here in LA and you don’t necessarily hear about that. He didn't mention that SpaceX... the first private company to dock with the International Space Station, well that was built here in Hawthorne. So when we talk about LA not being a tech city, you know we are ignoring some of the most high technology... enterprises and companies that have ever been created.

The Future of Science Fiction With Marc Zicree & Ray Bradbury

We start with a clip from the Pacifica Archives of the late Ray Bradbury on how to tell a good story and later how we need to remember what inspires us and makes us what to explore our solar system. We also spoke with Marc Zicree, a famous science fiction writer and producer, who wrote The Twilight Zone Companion and has written for shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation and Sliders about his crowd-funded project Space Command and the future of funding and moving back to positive science fiction.

I have a feeling you need me... and... I'm gonna watch you the next ten years and as the years pass you're going to need me even more, and I'm going to come back and help you...
Ray Bradbury

For me, what Space Command is, is a return to hopeful science fiction, it’s a return to a vision of possibility. I’m looking back at the vision we had in the 50s… and saying lets extrapolate from that with a modern perspective… what I’m creating is a story that covers about 200 years of man’s expansion into space…

The Futurist

George Dvorsky brings his unique perspective on enhancing our minds and memories using Nootropics, a powerful new genre of drugs that could change the way we do everything!

We also discuss what it means to be a person in the context of Artificial Intelligence. Should human rights extend to certain non-humans? Explore these difficult questions with us in this multi-dimensional interview..

...most of us would agree that human memory as it currently stands is quite deficient and inadequate, and I'm sure all of us get frustrated when we can't remember something or we'd like to remember something in a lot more detail.

The Galactic-Centric View: Planetary Resources

Awhile back we spoke to Peter Diamandis about his book with Steven Kotler, Abundance: The Future Is Better Than You Think. He and Eric Anderson founded Planetary Resources and are working with a group of Space Veterans, which include NASA Engineers and Astronauts.

We discuss with Douglas Messier, founder of Parabolic Arc, who reports on all the goings on in the space industry about Planetary Resources and his thoughts on its impact for the industry as a whole.

With artificial intelligence, robots, and new materials coming online; the ability of humanity to create the new destiny of where we go is extraordinary.

Who owns these asteroids? This is one issue I haven’t or heard a lot about. I understand the issue of the New World for example, how the Spanish basically came and said, oh, South America… Ours… the gold… Ours…
