Are We The Commanders Of Our Own Technology?

Douglas Rushkoff is a world renowned media theorist and author of numerous books, including "Life Inc" and "Playing The Future". We spoke with him about his latest book, "Program or Be Programmed: Ten Commands For A Digital Age". 

Programming is becoming the language in which human society is based... Now that we have computers, I feel like we shouldn't just learn how to use them, but how to program them.

But for all the heat of claim and counter-claim, the argument is essentially beside the point: it’s here; it’s everywhere. The real question is, do we direct technology, or do we let ourselves be directed by it and those who have mastered it?
